By following this checklist, you’ll ensure a smooth painting process and great results!

Contract, Deposit, Change Orders & Final Payment

Deposits & Contract Acceptance – Plan to meet with the Painter to sign the contract, go over all details, make color selections and pay deposit.

Change Orders - Any alteration to the original contract must be done in writing.  Change orders may require additional fees, required deposits and adjustment to completion dates.

Final Payment - Final payment is due in full upon completion of the contracted work.  Please make arrangements to be at the job site when the job is finished.  We accept, cash, check and credit cards with a processing fee.

General Preparation

Confirm the Details – Double-check the contract, timeline, and color choices with the painter.
Access & Scheduling – Ensure someone is available to let the painter in or provide access.

Interior Painting Prep

Remove Small Items – Take down wall art, clocks, picture frames, and decorations.
Move Furniture – Shift furniture away from walls or to the center of the room. 
Clear Surfaces – Remove small appliances, electronics, and valuables from the area.
Protect Rugs – Remove throw rugs.
Clean Walls & Trim – Dust or wipe down walls, baseboards, and trim to remove dirt and grease.
Ensure Good Ventilation – Open windows or ensure HVAC systems are working for airflow.

Exterior Painting Prep

Trim Landscaping – Cut back bushes, trees, or vines touching the house.
Move Outdoor Furniture & Décor – Relocate patio furniture, planters, and grills.
Close Windows & Doors – Prevent dust and paint from entering the home.
Hose Down & Clean Surfaces – Remove dirt, mildew, and cobwebs if not included in the painter’s prep.
Check for Repairs – Identify any siding, trim, or woodwork that may need fixing before painting.

Other Considerations

Secure Pets & Kids – Keep pets in a safe area and notify family members about restricted zones.
Discuss Special Requests – Inform the painter of any concerns like allergies, preferred work hours, or specific areas to avoid.
Plan for Drying Time – Arrange alternative living or workspaces if fumes will be an issue.
